It was like that here, till we got new neighbors...

Nice enough people but for some reason they feel the need to feed the Utility and have their floods on all night...

I've got lanterns and flash lights for when I need to go out, we have outdoor lights as well but I can't take them with me and they don't always light up what I need to see.

Few years ago another neighbor built bought the five acres across from us and put in a convalescent/Special needs facility, about eight units in all plus the original house. all lit up like a Christmas tree!

Biggest peeve with that is the signs at the end of the drive and the lights on it looks like a car setting at the end of the drive!

Whew, sure am glad I don't live next to any of those people that feel it would be okay to shoot out their neighbor's lights. Some people would call folks like that vandals. Makes me think and wonder what those vandals would consider okay to do if they think shooting out lights is okay.

Just glad that I don't have any close neighbors, and the few that live on our road are actually mature enough to discuss problems or issues with you face to face in a respectable and polite manner.

Would you feel the same way about vandalism if it was the electric co and you and the affected neighbors all said you didn't want a street light?

I've got motion sensor lights. The rabbits set them off all the time.

I can understand the need for light near your home that some people have.

But there is absolutely no reason to light up a several acre semicircle in the direction it's facing, which is usually where neighbors are.

I wouldn't go so far as to do it such a thing myself, but I can't blame the people who feel like shooting those lights out.

I've often felt like shooting the neighbor's light. Instead, I got a shade that I can pull down. The light no longer bothers me.

Think of it as free bug removal. With all those lights, every flying insect for yards will be attracted to their lights. At night, the skeeters attracted will keep the neighbors indoors too. Win, win.

Threads like this always strike me as odd. Most homesteaders don't want anyone telling them what they should do with their own land or home but some are pretty quick to decide how someone else should live.

If these folks like their fence and their lights, it's really their business. I personally don't care for my neighbour's Christmas light display but it's their house, their power bill and their business.

Seems the least you could do is see if they need some razor wire, may as well ask 'em.

I have numerous neighbors surrounding my lands, and it has been mostly my experience that being a good neighbor creates good neighbors but your mileage may vary.

Oh the Fence and Lights don't bother me, I just feel sorry for them messing up their place this way because how they feel about me, not really knowing anything about me other than I wouldn't give them any of my property.

Perhaps the same person feeding you wild stories was feeding the stories as well. If it caused them as much stress as it did you, that may explain things.

Ultimately, somebody needed to put up a fence between the two properties and maybe they just figured if they did, they had some control over the type of fence or maybe they wanted to keep stray dogs out of their yard and it has nothing to do with you.

And what they did may not be a mess in their minds, after all they did put up the lights.

Oh they wrote down and talked with us over the Phone as to what they was going to do.

They was told I probably wouldn't mind them parking Camper on me but to ask me first and they know where the property Line is don't be trying to take it just because I'm letting them use it. They didn't ask me and tried taking my property, via Lawyer.

They came set in my Front room, asked me 3 times if I would sell them property? And I told them No 3 times. The Guy then told me I wasn't using my property I might as well sell it to him. Then told me if I wouldn't sell he wasn't going to buy the place. Then they bought the place knowing it had less than an acre, with Double Wide Trailer and a Big Ditch that took up over a quarter of the property.

I'd be in town the next day, buying a klaxon.... an industrial grade fire department alarm.... next time they're here, the fire alarm would be on until they turned the dang
lights out....

Well, Rockpile, you can complete the look with a nice big tower deer stand on each corner at the property line

You know, that's all well and good, as long as their use of their land doesn't infringe on my use of mine.

Lights on my place 24/7 would definitely be an infringement on my enjoyment, and it probably wouldn't be hard to prove that it was being done for spite.
