It seems that there are internships offered by some organic farms, a great way to learn the ropes, the acronym was WOOFers. Not sure what that stands for, except maybe Work On Organic Farms? Try google.
Good luck with your endeavor.

Just for interest, you should search on WWOOF

If you'd be interested in becoming WWOOFers for a while, it might well give you want you're looking for. Just keep an open mind on whether that's what you need, as your knowledge base increases.

ETA: Oops- should have read the second page.

That is a double edged sword, and the 'problem' with communes.

Someone needs to be in charge and lead the vision.

Individuals trying to run the place in 6 different directions make a mess of the place in a few years.

But, its tough on the people trying to live there, when you get told what to do over and over......

I will do alot of research. If the opportunity presents itself we may go the land route and just start our own little spot of heaven, And learn as we go you never know what life will throw at you

North of where I live is one of the largest and oldest intentional communities called Dancing Rabbit. From my understanding anyone can come there, but there is a certain process for becoming a member and getting some ground of your own. They have a website that can be found with a simple google search.

Along the same line there are actually several intentional communities like Dancing Rabbit that have formed around Sandhill Farm.

On the Permies forum there is a whole section for people looking for a farm to work on and farms looking for volunteers etc.
