Some really great suggestions!
I like the gun storage photo, too.
I also use a 'dead' upright freezer to store feed outside.
Works great.
I would love to try fitting it out as an incubator. Anyone try this?
If so, would be great to see a photo of it.

I have one I ran a electric cord into it, got a thermostat controlled plug, and plugged in a 60 watt light. Great storage for those items that must be kept from freezing in an unheated shed.

Our electric company will give you $50 for any old refrigerator that you replace with a new one - check to see if yours does also

We had an old fridge that we used to store canned goods.

We had another that we used to store canning and dairy supplies. It was great because we could wash stuff and turn it up on the racks to dry and not have to make sure it got put away.

When we borded horses we also kept one at the barn, fitted with a hasp and padlock, for storing meds.

If kids getting into it is an issue, and it doesn't needs to be water proof, a couple holes drilled in the door can mitigate some of the risk. It may still get hot inside but it wont be airtight.

I have one on the porch that I keep seeds and feed in. Good and mouse proof. I have one outside that I keep tools and other miscellanous in that I want out of the rain.

Take it to the garage or the barn and use it to keep your extra money in.

My Dad has several 'dead' refrigerators in his shop that hold everything from oil funnels to duct tape. Assuming the barrier strip is still intact, they do a fine job of keeping dust and dirt off stuff. Take out the shelves, and they also work pretty good for storing feed.

We have a big chest freezer that holds feed. It is outside so initially would leak if the rain was coming down sideways a little. DH attached a metal strip to the top on three sides. It was long enough to hang down past the gasket on the lid. Feed stays completely dry and free from rodents.

Dead Fridge

As was mentioned above it makes a great storage for paint, calking, stains, weed killer or anything that shouldn't be frozen. I got a thermostat that will come on at 38 and kick off at 50 with a 60 watt bulb.
