Clearly the old lady in the cut-out is h-a-w-t. Why do you need these things explained?

It is not hot, it's depicting a old lady.... What would be hot? A mid 20's cowgirl in the same position with rough cut jean shorts showing thigh!

From your 1st post you mentioned the woman's rear and the perverseness of it, Vern. But I see 2 rears...

You are right, Mr. Flatlander. It is not "hot" anymore. But neither is his and I bet, if these were real folks, they'd be grateful that they had another summer to garden and sit outside and listen to the birds together.

These were all over the neighborhood when I was growing up. Nothing perverse about them. It's just yard art of people bending over doing gardening work. Why would people put them in their yard? Why not? They thought they were funny or cute or as some folks call it "a garden whimsey."

I think it's fun to see what people do with their gardens. Up here we do tend toward a lot of garden whimsey and I think it's because our summer is so short. I think it says something hilarious about human nature that we decorate gardens for no reason other than it's entertaining. It's all in good fun.

I'm not offended by those but I do think they're ugly. That being said I keep plastic flamingos in my garden. To each their own and all that.

Come on! Haven't there been times when you've wanted to go all "Braveheart" on the world, and show 'em what you think of the full moon? These people have got it together, and your opinions about them don't matter all that much more to them than you've already been shown.

The boy urinating in the yard replaced the old lady bending over, same tacky trash.

While we're on the subject of garden decor/yard art, I have my own question...what's the deal with the statues of black jockeys? I've simply never "got" that one.

I've never been a fan of garden decor/yard art, but the two pieces I would add if I had the "right" space for them would be the "bird girl" statue in Bonaventure Cemetery in Savannah and a really "good" Green Man.

My Mom has garden gnomes (ugh!), but to each his/her own, I guess. At least she doesn't have old tires painted white lining the sides of the driveway (which you see a LOT of down here).

During the Revolutionary War, a free black man Tom Graves joined George Washington’s army. Graves’ 12 year old son, Jocko wanted to go to war to but of course he was too young. Determined to go he went anyway. As Washington was preparing to cross the Delaware River for the battle of Trenton he realized that he could not transport the horses by boat, and that his steeds would have to be waiting on the other side. Jocko volunteered to hold the horses and make sure that they were ready when Washington’s troops arrived. But, during the night Jocko froze to death awaiting the soldiers, never letting go of the reins. His sacrifice spurred the troops onto victory, and Washington was so touched by the boy’s sacrifice that he erected a statue in Jocko’s honor at Mount Vernon. This statue, the story goes, was the precursor to the lawn jockey.
...and as I was looking this up, there were a lot of colored folks calling these statues racist because it's usually found in the white folks yard.....

At least it has some history behind it, I agree much of it is "tacky trash", seriously.

I like my lawn to look "natural", rocks and things like bird baths, perhaps a lighthouse is okay. Flowers all good.

However, some people dress it up as a junk yard! Gazing globes, black silloletes of smoking cowboys leaning on a tree, images of people bending over and showing butt crack, boys peeing, weird perverse things do not need to be in your lawn, unless of course, you are perverse yourself!
