I'm 27, and yearning for a homesteading lifestyle, myself. Three years ago, I started my first container garden. This year, I have a decent sized plot in my parents' backyard and I'm going all out on it. (I live part time there, and part time in an apartment.) I dehydrate, make homemade beauty products, and I'm learning to can. I was trying to talk my parent into chickens, but we have so many poisonous ornamentals in the yard (and my parents are partial to them for some reason. hah...)

Me too! (kinda) Except instead of parents with poisonous ornamentals I have my boss/landlord and their alpacas to contend with. I think I've convinced them to let me have a few raised garden beds and maybe a small aquaponics set up. Going to try to make soap from ash soon I hope.

I'm also starting to work them over to sell me some land across the street in a year or two.

I'm 26, DH is 34. We hope to buy some land next year. He works from home, and I'm a homemaker, so I'm really hoping to do this! I think I'm a little more excited about the prospect than he is though . We have agreed on gardening and chickens at first, and after a few years of that we might add more (I'd love to get a cow that is dual purpose for milk and beef!)

We both grew up in suburbs and live outside of Boston now. So we don't have a ton of experience, but we both are big learners so we are willing to learn as we go!
