When you start approaching 200 dollars or more for a few months of cold, Ouch on that price.
we've had it go down to -20 and it was fine.

SEVERE WEATHER WARNING
We have tested our hoses to minus 40 degrees. We performed the test in the controlled environment of an industrial strength deep-freezer. Extreme cold temperatures combined with wind-chill can still cause sections of the hose to freeze. If you plan to use the hose in extreme weather conditions, we recommend adding foam pipe insulation to those parts of the hose exposed to extreme conditions. Be sure not to insulate or cover the thermostat.
And what I bolded was also bolded on their website. I don't know that is what they say.

And I'm just saying that ours was fine without any insulation down to about -20. It's a great product. We use one for our RV for winter camping and keep the long one for the barn and watering horses.

Just solved a persnickety water problem up at the main barn; frozen hose.

My thought process: "A tank de-icer keeps the water in the drinking tanks from freezing. . . . . . it would also keep a hose from freezing?" IT DOES!!!

I coiled the 50-ft hose in a large-ish tub, filled it with water, plugged in the de-icer, and I was just now able to water the pen furthest from the hydrant with no issues! Earlier, I tied a length of orange baling twine to each end of the hose, to make fishing it out of the tank easy.
BlueRose and doingitmyself like this.
