Thanks everyone for positing. I am till learning the 'in's and out's' of the forum so pardon the overall general reply.

I love watching shows like 'Mountain Men' and 'Alaska: The Last Frontier'. I don't want to have to be totally self-sufficient/off the grid as I will need Internet for my business but if it all 'hits the fan', I want to have that option.

I do want to have my new place to be as self-sustaining as possible. (Well water, solar, wind, firewood for heat, etc.)

I have less than seven years and want to learn as much as I can. Like the old saying goes, 'Noah did not wait until it was raining to start building the ark.'
