I hate to do this but I don't want any one else to have this happen
Biomass Direct
They have a web site and the man is suppose to have many years of experience. He really seems to be a likable guy but I am out $3900.00 and now I am having to go to the BBB and also file fraud charges.

just_sawing - I don't know if it will do any good, but I sent them an email telling them that they need to return Mr. Haney's money to him, or I would broadcast far and what what kind of business they are.

Hope it helps! (I would suggest others here do the same and contact them.)

Good luck.

People badmouth credit cards all the time but this is why i lik them. I had a 1500$ deposit on a gun that the dealer promised he could get within 2 months. 3 months later and no new eta and refusing to refund my deposit a call to visa and i had my money back within a day.

Yes people can get in trouble with credut cards but be careful and they can be useful.

I think that a lot of companies don't fully recognize how exposed they are when they mis-step, now that the internet and search engines allow people to check them out. I would estimate that one water filter manufacturer lost hundreds (if not thousands) of sales by improperly treating just ONE vocal customer. Lurkers on forums may not post, but they do make buying decisions.

On another group, there is a listing of how many times pages that I have posted on have been opened and read. The numbers obviously get inflated by bots and repeated openings and people that are in China or other areas where the subject is irrelevant, but even if 1 in 100 is a legitimate read, and 1 in 100 of those take what is said to heart, the 25 MILLION times my posts on that one group have been seen is huge - and I am just ONE person.

Your playing the nice guy to the bitter end lends credence to the legitimacy of your complaint. While the business owner might see the activity here or emails to him as an attempt at coercion, he would do well to step back and re-consider. Commerce depends upon good will and fulfillment of contracts, and the public fora are a POWERFUL force. I hope for an equitable resolution.

Sounds like it really isn't intentional fraud and they've just hit some obstacles, but that's not your problem. Don't accept any more excuses. Get your money back in your control. You can always give the money back to them when they are actually ready to deliver a product to you.

Keep us posted...

I had some serious problems with our builder and they ignored us. After I did a blog similar to yours, with photos etc, they were out here working their behinds off within 3 hours.

I used to be friends with someone who built these ... then life came tumbling down on him in the form of new laws outlawing outside wood burning (including furnaces) and serious, serious health problems that almost killed him and did disable him.

This outfit looks like a bigger operation, but some of the companies doing this are one-person operations trying to build something good while navigating new laws and often personal problems.

Don't give up on this technology is my message, I suppose. It just has some catching up to do with the laws and often personal issues with no back up to take up the slack.

If your problem has been fixed and you really want the company to succeed you might want to ask a mod to remove the post mentioning the company's name. Everybody makes mistakes and if this guy has rectified the problem then it would be nice to remove his name. Your post could cost him tens of thousands of dollars. It'd be sad for this to cost the guy his business for an honest mistake. (I am assuming things are better because of your last post.)

Rather than removing the post, an additional one stating the resolution would be appropriate. In twenty years of being in business, I've never held a customer's money while withholding delivery unless I had to wait for a check to clear because of past problems. I expect the same from companies I do business with.

If all is as I have been told my money will have been returned by tonight. I am waiting.
I have been asked why I was willing to take what is some what the high road.
You have different type of people, some just sit on their stump and talk about what you are doing wrong or why you are not going to succeed.
You also have the person that stretches to far and falls down time and time again. These people are flustrating to be around but some beautiful things do happen from that.
If there has been any better example of a travesty it is hooking the world to a leash called the utility department. We are as a nation being enslaved by the phone gas electricity and others. We need gasification units to work and be available commercially. He is trying with a reach that may have been to aggressive which has caused me discomfort but if he succeeds we will be the beneficiary of a great tool.
Hopefully in a little while our bank account will show our refund.

All is good in the world

I have my money back in hand and all is good.
What I have learned form this is even though you have very good friends don't take their recommendations with out some checking on yourself.
If a company does not have a long track record, that means that the chances of them being in business if there is a problem are not as good and their prices have to be better to compensate. You need to understand that it is worth paying a little more to the company that proves that are going to be there.
If you have a problem start taking notes and a diary. If you pay cash you better understand that you will have to go to court. For once a debit card paid off.

Here's another way to protect yourself: When putting money down on an item that remains to be delivered, always get a serial number--or any other information that distinguishes the particular item you bought from other like items. The reason is that the Uniform Commercial Code (adopted in most states) regards the creditor in bankruptcy (that's you) as the owner of any property that has been "identified to the contract." If the seller goes bankrupt, that property is yours. In contrast, if you bought an item without identifying it to the contract, the item becomes part of the bankruptcy estate. In the latter case, chances are you'll never see a dime.

Frequently, businesses in distress give off clues that they're headed for bankruptcy. Some active businesses are already in Chapter 13 (reorganization) bankruptcy, although you wouldn't know that unless you did an internet search on them. In such a case, the Chapter 13 can be converted to a Chapter 7 over night, and if you have an outstanding order with the company, you're toast.

One clue that a business is on the verge of bankruptcy is that it will offer a too-good-to-be-true price on an item that is not in stock ("We're sold out, but more will be in next week"), where payment is required up front. What's happening here, oftentimes, is that the retailer has not even ordered the product from the manufacturer because he is cash strapped. Sometimes the product never gets ordered, and the phantom product is simply a ruse in a desperate last-ditch effort to raise cash. If there are any unusual delays in that "backordered" product arriving, I assume the worst and make a bee-line for the retailer to get my money back.

I suggest due to the current state of things, that you only buy what is in stock and pick it up your self.
