This box is also foreign....it has no relays. Only a manual switch. So would putting the pressure switch between the breaker box and control box? Where does that leave the manual switch on the control box? I did find out that the black wire is the control and the other two are hot/fire (thus from the person i bought it from).

Here is what ot says on the pump (1~/220-230v/60 hz). Per someone my step dad talked to at a well supply shop, this pumps box,the one iy came with) has only manual switch, no relays. Virtually no instructions, and the wiring is nothing like my stepdad has seen with other pumps he wired. He isnt an expert at wiring. He said usually the pumps were more straightforward and had good instructions.

Have any of you folks that are responding read the link I posted with the data plate showing for the model # the original poster. It clearly states the motor is 230volt single phase and that the motor is 3 HP? The amp draw / KW stated also verifies that the HP is 3 HP.
Hopefully here is the data plate

Do I have the wrong pump number or could you possibly be reading the 1~ as the HP?

It says 4sjm3. It says p 0.75kw/1.0 hp. Also, the 3 hp was more expensive.

Those wiring colours are for two phases of three-phase wiring, as per the labelled diagram below.
The diagram also indicates that if it was single-phase then only red or blue (or yellow or white) would be needed, as well as black, and green-and-yellow.
Of course, that doesn't mean they absolutely wouldn't leave you a riddle by giving you wires you would need not to use.

I'd take it carefully if anything indicated anything different, until I knew for sure whatever was needed. I don't know what the pump needs- just saying care is advisable.

Both wires are "hot" because it's 22Ov. Single phase, yes, but 22Ov, 11Ov on each of the two wires.

I only see 3 wires from pump. Look like a 3 wire pump without ground. That is a start box and it got to have one. It should be able to use a relay type starter. http://www.lowes.com/pd_1649-57366-U...ump&facetInfo=

All right, instead of a current relay in the start box it looks like you probably have a switch in the motor.
With the cap being a start cap.
C is constantly hot
A is the start and
W the run

............Just return the pump and purchase a pump with a conventional wiring set up ! You're dithering with this foreign made pump when it isn't necessary . , fordy

Sammy....so thats a w not an m? And yes, it has.3 wires.plus a ground.i didnt get the ground in the pic. We are wiring.it.to a different regular box that usually takes a red a yellow a black and a ground. We are.juat trying to figure where the red, blue, black hook up. I researched and it looks.like what i called red is brown. Brown goes where red normally would, blue where black went and black where yellow went.
