If you are looking at older balers, I would get a larger one, like a 276 or 278 NH. The price difference of that era between sizes is negligible, and you will pound out more bales faster.
The good thing about being a farmer in this world of other guys always getting newer stuff, is those like me take economic advantage of older items that many turn their nose up at. But, to my mind, size does matter.
There are some excellent videos on youtube etc. that are absolutely amazing showing how to time, repair, and fix lots of this older machinery. I have used them when mystified by my 276 NH. ANyone can fix one of these babies up good as new with the resources out there these days. Also, parts are often more available for the larger sized machinery, because often many more large models were sold than the little guys, for good reason, IMO.
