I don't think that anyone is intentionally being rude to you. Sometimes the splash of wake-up water seems like an attack, but it's just because you weren't expecting it. Same as with some of the responses you're getting here - not what you were expecting. I'm guessing that you were expecting that a complaint about a neighbor's dog would garner a lot of support or some recommendations to "SSS", but you'll only get that reaction as step 2. Step 1 is getting your own house in order, first.

Even in your last post, it seems like you've still got your self-righteousness blinders on.

If they were fenced in, then your neighbor wouldn't really have had any choice but to agree to keep his dog off your land. In the paragraph before this one you detail what it would take to fence his dog out and/or fence yours guineas in. I'm guessing that the same reason you see it as impractical is the same reason that your neighbor does. If you want his dog off your property, then you need to keep your animals off his. Since the solution appears to be the same for both goals, maybe you can agree to share the costs of an appropriate fence.

I'm guessing that the cost of even half the fence seems unreasonable to you, and, since the problem is all his, he should foot the entire bill.

I guess where it may seem like Ive been me me me, perhaps Im old fashioned, but it used to be when people (especially neighbors) had an issue with another, you try to have a civilized talk with them....you dont just not say anything but nice to their face, and to their back you pitch a fit or just stew till it boils over. Guess thats what kind of bothers me. Yes, they didn't have a problem (so they said) at first....but at the point where that changed maybe they shoulda coulda been adults about it and mentioned something. People do change, its in our nature.
It didn't sound like your neighbor pitched a fit. From his shoes, you decided that his dog needed to change its range and he replied that your birds should as well. It really doesn't matter if he decided that on the spot - it's his prerogative to do so.

From the outside looking in, this reminds me of the times that someone on the highway has swerved into my lane, nearly caused a crash, and then flips me the bird. Somewhere along the line, it seems the human species has evolved an immunity to the smell of their own poo.
