Our downtown area is infested with bats, too! Whenever they start renovating an old building, we start seeing disturbed bats flying around in the middle of the day.
Sounds like a fire drill at a Miami Beach condo...

Oh God bless you! I used to love little, cute squirrels, then I had one fall down my chimney, knock the clean out door open and end up in my living room with two dogs spazzing out and chasing it! I freaked out cause my living room and kitchen area is only about 20' by 20', so the crazed squirrel was bouncing off the couch and recliner with dogs right behind it. I managed to open the door to the porch and the poor thing got away. I thought I was gonna have a heart attack! I hope that darn thing stays off the roof....that must have been a long, hard drop down the chimney and the new world he found himself in was probably worse!

Wildlife control professionals are like plumbers. The cheapest ones in the phone book might not do the best work. The reputable ones will make repairs on your home, and guarantee them against further squirrel invasion. Extra-label use of pesticides is a violation of federal law among other things. Where do the dead squirrels that are now full of poison go? Someone else's attic? Neighbors new dog toy?

Putting baggies full of poison out is a good way to kill someone's dog. The squirrel tears the baggie open and the poison spills out as it carries it away. Then someone walking their dog walks too close and the dog scarfs up some poison.

I was just talking with a guy last weekend who lost 2 of his dogs from poison that someone set out near his yard. It took months for the one dog to finally die.

Wooden rat traps work well for smaller squirrels and 110 body grip traps set up off the ground work well for gray and fox squirrels.

When you have a squirrel problem you do whatever it takes to get rid of them. Shooting, trapping, snaring or poison. They are vermin carrying pests and cause a lot of damage to buildings and grain. I get rid of them any way I can.

I found turning a radio on full blast gets them moving out.....and of course every one I set my sights on becomes cat food. It came to the point that as soon as my cats saw me carrying my 22 they came running for their squirrel treat.

BTW, our wildlife officers here are useless when it comes to dealing with pesky animals. I found that out last fall when I had problems with bears around the house.
