Cheap clothes that you can replace. Your kids are going to grow quickly so it doesn't seem to make a lot of sense to spend a lot of money on clothing. Farm clothing isn't anything special.
How cold does it get around you? Personally, we didn't want to spend the big bucks for Carhart coats so we got Berne coats and bib overalls at Farm King. They look just like Carharts and they are tons cheaper. I am neither fat nor skinny and fit into XL kids work coats and overalls. Our coats are very high quality. They wash well and haven't shrunk at all.
You don't need high quality kids' work clothing. They're not in them long enough to make the investment. If you've got a nearby consignment/resale shop you should be able to find inexpensive clothing. We wear wool socks and rubber boots. I have a pair of work boots but like the rubber boots better. They keep my feet just as warm and, more importantly, keep them very dry. I can get in deep muck without getting my feet wet.
