It's a beautiful day here, blue sky and sunny. We still have a little snow left from last weekends snow. It's around 50 now but this weekend we are supposed to get some more snow before it turns to rain Monday afternoon. There are signs of spring. Some of the plants are sprouting and some of the summer birds are back. There are still a lot of swans and ducks around but they should be leaving pretty soon. Looking forward to the swallows arriving around the middle of March. Then I know it's really spring.

BEAUTIFUL but cold. Storms a coming, so we will be having a good-bye ceremony for the grass tonight. It's been nice visiting with it the last 4 days.....haven't seen it since late December.

Not as cold as some of you since I'm right on the Pacific coast near water. It was sunny and cold yesterday and sunny and warm today with 55*F at noon and there's crocuses up and ladybugs crawling on the windows. But man oh man was it ever windy !!! and the wind was coming from different directions in alternating gusts of really warm and then biting cold. The weather is wonky every day, no two days the same and sometimes changeable from hour to hour. Forecast is for snow on Saturday, rain on Sunday, then sunny with wind on Monday and cloudy with chances of snow again on Tuesday.

Here in so. WI we stayed on the + side of 0 last night. It has been windy here too. Got an inch of snow last night and a couple of more inches predicted today. I wonder how long in the spring it will take the ground to thaw???

It was -20 here last night. High today about -3. Low tonight -30. Is it really March?? I hope this is winters last gasp.

light rain

Around here the ice goes off the lakes about April 15 on average. The ground is thawed a week or two before that. The ground thaws quickly when you have the warmth from both underneath and above.

Our forecast for tomorrow is rain, Monday the high is supposed to be 27. As far as I can see that means ice. I hate ice. 10 inches of snow sounds lovely. I love walking in the woods with the snow coming down.

About on par for the season, which means cold. Nights in the sub-zero range. Days in the teens. Mostly sunny. Snow was a little light early January but it seems to have caught up to normal so our water table should be good in the summer which means no especially dry time. If there is too little snow then it gets dry in July and August.

Adirondacks gal-
Thanks for enduing all that cold b/c those temps keep it nice in the summer, when WE come for a week!
Every other year its DH's family reunion on 4th Lake, Old Forge or Inlet. We've got our cabin already paid for the week of 8/9!

But as far as our weather here-was 78 yesterday & we're getting a 'blue norther', will be 20 tonite.

Not all that different here in the western Finger Lakes than the Adks, which is a little unusual. Generally colder in the North Country than here. There have been years when I put in some greens and peas in March! SO not happening here. Have you considered small hoops or those water collars for your garden? They can add a few weeks early and late where the growing season is so short.

Last night it went down to -7 or -10 depending on which thermometer you look at. Pretty windy though, so it felt colder. It should be warming up a fair amt. in the next few days.

I'm glad the birds like black oil sunflower seeds, because it's not too terribly expensive and I wonder how many of them would be lost over this past winter without it.

Here in the four corners area, we've had warm weather - just in the 20's in the am. Several days of rain, which turns to snow when it gets cold enough. We had about 2" yesterday/overnight. It's worrisome to see the green grass trying to poke up - it's bound to go cold again for an extended time. Hope all the fruit trees wait to bud out, or they'll all get frozen off.

Looks like the ground hog isn't scared of his shadow any more. It was a bright full sunny day Feb 2. Today its 18 and blowing snow. Supposed to be back to the 50 by Thursday.

50 and raining hard. We're happy for the rain! Warm enough we can turn the pellet stove off during the day and save some $$. Daffodils are about 4 inches tall.
