I don't think that we'll be seeing Razz Matazz for $2 for awhile. Definitely a unique type that I would love to be able to grow. The continuous production factor is very intriguing. There's no other variety to compare it to.

Could be interesting in a sub-tropical climate, but most grapes ripen in Sept-Oct. I'm not sure how additional fruit set after spring would have a chance to ripe in most areas.

I'd suggest sticking with a tried/true variety until more data comes out on this one.

Bountiful Gardens prices are higher than last year. but still in the affordable range..and Stark Bros bought out Millers and their prices are up about $10 per plant, but also still affordable..some were even about the same price as last year..but I've tossed all the other plant/seed catalogs that have come so far..just ridiculous prices..I found it hard to believe some were so high

I think it could be said that in general most things go up in price, so I am not surprised that prices have gone up. As for the grape, probably will be sold out by sometime next year. If people don't buy it at that price, Henry Field's usually has good late season sales and can move the product.

I suspect we're also seeing the effects of the growing monopolies that are developing in the seed/nursery industry. A lot of the old-line seed companies are now all owned by conglomerates, and they're jacking the prices up correspondingly. Several years ago Fedco Seeds had to stop carrying a number of popular hybrids because all the sources had been bought by a one or two international companies and the prices went through the roof.

Not quite true. Most of those dropped were developed by Seminis. That was no problem with the public until the Mexican-owned Seminis was sold to Monsanto. Bowing to anti-Monsanto pressure, the Seminis varieties were dropped. Consequently you will not find, for example, Packman broccoli at Fedco but will find other F1 broccoli varieties.

True for the Seminis crops but not others that were no longer available. The list of seeds that Fedco has had to stop carrying over the past ten years is a LOT longer than just the Seminis varieties, and many are because Monsanto (or MonSatan as some call the company) and others have either dropped low-demand and OP varieties (in favor of hybrids) or have pushed up the prices of high-demand types. Some are no longer available to seed companies that are outside the conglomerate.
