Up were I live pipes buried even 12 and 14 feet freeze up and here is an odd thing--pipes are also crushed with the expantion of the freezing damp soil. Right now the conditions for the crushing to happen in many areas of the Kenai are great---the list include governmental layed pipes.-

It is still warm and it has been raining quite a bit. Freezing does trap water where it is not wanted exp when there is a layer of clay benenth a boggy area. My well has frozen up and it is very common in well houses to have a heater with a auto turn on by temps.

Steamer make quite a living in the winter time.
