That is a nice scraper... I recently bought a Howse scraper... Not sure if it is made in the US or not, (US company) but it's pretty darn thick and heavy... I just don't like the way the drag bars are adjusted so much, but I sure couldn't beat the price... had been shopping for a while..
If I would have seen one of those boxes around here I would have been all over it too...

Man.. still a great deal..
OK... sorry for the hijack.. now waiting to see pictures of her Ford tractor..
I'm thinking that select-o-speed would be easier to drive than a regular stick high/low, but then again I've never driven a select-o-speed.. only just seen them..

My used-to-be-neighbor had a Ford 2000 with the selecto-speed. I absolutely detested driving that tractor. I would help him occasionally with hay and drive it. He tried to convince me how good a tractor it was. OK, maybe for everybody else, just not me...and I notice they stopped making them. Anyway, PP, most everybody here is trying to steer you right in my opinion. I don't like serial number 001, anything unique, anything rare or weird when it comes to equipment. I think that is a cool looking tractor, but probably not something you will enjoy for years to come. I suggest you look at diesels, far less day-to-day maintenance. (No spark plugs, wires, points, etc that you will have to deal with on a regular basis. Granted, if something goes wrong with a fuel injected system it will cost more....but the track record is very good for fuel injected systems as long as you keep you're filters changed on a halfway reasonable schedule. Plus, the diesels are so much more fuel efficient. I have an 8N Ford, a 2000 New Holland 3010 (52 horse) and a New Holland 2007 TT75 (75 horse). Haven't yet laid a wrench to either of the diesels.....the 8N of course requires quite of bit of normal maintenance. Just my opinion, hope it helps with your decision. WWF

You don't need/want a loader, you need/want a finish mower, garden prep tool and light pasture work. You need a small tractor with 3 pt and power steering. Gear drive is cheaper. I would go with a small JD 650/750 2 wheel drive, Ag tires. Get a pasture harrow, 3pt finish mower and a rototiller. Till the garden, level with the pasture harrow. Drag the pasture with harrow to spread manure, smooth and after spreading pasture seed. Rototiller will work up any small plot to plant, wouldn't need disk. Get the tractor you need/want, then add implements as needed. She could get a 3pt cultivator, plant garden in rows, gates at both ends and cultivate the garden with that.
Loader would be nice/useful. If you found one with a loader, used, well worth the money. Do not buy a tractor thinking you will get a loader later. Used they never fit right, new, they know you WANT one bad and stick it to you. 4 wheel drive, I don't think she is needing that either, mostly flat land and she will wait for dry weather. She needs a $4,000.00 tractor, safe and easy to use. If extras came with the deal, all the better....James

I quoted a 3pt attachment for it for $500. Why would you want the fast hitch. Finding the impliments are going to be harder than 3pt, and the price will likely be higher, as there wernt as many made, and they are collectors items now.
DID YOU look at the U tubes for the 140?

Uploading pics of Ford now. Very embarrassed to even post them but remember - the man who lived here before us left it as part of the negotiating and took the bright shiny new one with him. The one he left was hidden so when he said he'd leave the tractor he wildly misled us. Point is ... I didn't really give money for this thing.
Will look at videos after the girls go to bed. Got get dinner on the table. Never a free moment ...

I could get all of jobs she needs done with it, easier and faster, that you can not do with all your tractors IF you got them running. It has 3 pt, live pto and power steering and nearly the horsepower. You ever run one? Sure it will not pull the load yours will but it will get the jobs she has, done. Your H won't, Case won't, JD won't, AC won't.
And as far as a little money, it is all relative isn't it. I could buy the tractor and 3 implements that she needs, here, where I live, for $5,000.00 easy....James

Because I am so confused !
I went back today and the man was trying to tell me how to make the bar a 3 pt hitch but I didn't understand. And I know he is sick so I'm sure he wasn't speaking clearly. But he said the cultivator had to come to use the bar off so I was trying to see how to do it. Then he told me it was too much work to be taking it off and on and I was trying not to appear frustrated but gosh -- I have to be able to take it off and on or I can't buy it! So when I read "fast hitch" I guess I mistakenly think that means fast and easy 3 pt hitch. Guess I'm wrong.

I'll make a road trip if you find one. Is the lavender in your area blooming? I've always wanted to see the NW when the lavender is in bloom ...

Well, well, well, it is a later model 2000 ford, not a SOS trans. Great little tractor. As to the engine, now that is the question. Can you get it running and drive it around to get used to it?

from the pictures I see you have a barn so you would be well served with a loader , the ford looks rough at best ,Are you sure you can't talk your family down on the price for the cub cadet ?

It is a State, County or City tractor. Can you read the hours on the Tach. Wipe it off and we can see it with another close up picture....James

You are the only person EVER to tell me it's NOT a select o matic! Are you 100% *CERTAIN* ????
It runs. It knocks but it runs. I can sorta make it go back and forth but I'd love some stickers that label the clutch and gears. I learn by being shown...not by reading. And I don't know anyone who can show me!
