Ok everyone is knocking this little cub. But let me set a different tune... No its not a full size compact tractor it is a sub compact. It would be excellent on say one to ten acres if you don't have a lot of heavy work you need something bigger for. I can see where the narrower track could come in real handy on a small space. Inside a barn it would be great. Its your choice. I have no idea what plans you have or needs for a tractor. With 4x4 diesel this will do as much work faster than an old 8 or 9 n ford. If I were you I would try to get some seat time try it out. If you can get a good deal on it it may be just right for you. Then again it may not if you have a bunch of big jobs at your place for a tractor to do. My silly little rule of thumb for people who want their first tractor is no less than 20 hp then 1 hp per acre up to 50 past that I have no experience. A 35 hp diesel 4x4 will do amazing amounts of work. Thats what I have. Fits my 36 acres pretty good gets used way hard (dozer mostly). Mines a cheep Chinese tractor but I have been down the used high hour tractor road. Sold a 28 hp kubota with issues and bought a new jinma 354. Both were 4x4 diesel. Kubotas are good machines if I could have afforded a new one thats what I would have.

Thanks Larry!

We only have 10.2 acres. I need it maintain a garden that's not quite an acre, mow the rest of the grass (the riding mower we had when we lived in the city is about to fall over dead from trying to keep this place cut), moving around the monster compost/manure pile, maybe bush hogging 6 acres 2x a year, planting some seed in the fall, dragging some fallen trees around, .... nothing like planting 100 acres of soybeans or anything like that. I think it might fit into the barn for scooping out the bedding once a year but so far I'm okay with doing that slowly with a shovel and a wheel barrow.

I'm by no means commercial. I just need something bigger than what we have or a draft horse and plow, but I can't afford to feed and house a 2500# horse!

tough crowd here. It would sell near me for 7-8k and not last long on the market. If you get a good deal and get used to a tractor, you can move up without taking a beating, or keep it for mowing (the diesel will sip fuel if you have been cutting with a gas mower). It is small, but my experience with the compacts were that they can do alot more than it seems at first appearances.

Well I'm Curious Are you gona give it a try? Sounds like it may be a good fit at your place. Far as bushhogging you may want a four ft hog a five will be a bit much for that more than likely.

Ask for the model designator of the tractor. From the picture it looks hidden. Are you making a decision from the picture? Once you have the Model designator and serial number go to the dealer for information on horse power.

Is the mower a belly mower or a brush hog called a mower? If it won't handle a 4' ft brush hog don't buy it.

I've found that 5 hp per foot of bush hog/tiller works good ,So for a 4 foot bush hog you want 20 hp .And you can always drop the loader off when not needed .

So it seems that my SO is not the only passive aggressive member of their family.

Apparently they all get a little rush pretending to want to do something and not doing it .... or, as SO puts it, "No one in my family ever gets in a hurry to do anything." The uncle is now thinking on a fair price; the discussion of the tractor has been going on for several months now ... and it's taken that long for them all to get together to look at it. I can only imagine how long it would take to get it on the property.

It's very hard for me - when it's time to move, I move. I create the time to move and I get it done. I won't bore you, but SO and I have had challenges with the "but we aren't ready" or "just wait Shannon, it will get done" line of thinking. I'm always sitting on ready. So I need to get my head out of the clouds and work on learning the tractor I have in the back. From what I've observed over the past couple of weeks-that tractor pictured above won't make it to this place anytime soon.

I can't say if that tractor is worth that or not, but I do know I could get a whole lot more tractor for that kinda money..

There may be a few in here that are the same model as the one you are looking at.

Yeah-we were thinking that was too much, too. Thanks for reassuring. So much for the family discount - as my MIL said!

Sounds about 67 hundred high to me. I bought my ferguson 35 up and running and have used it all over my farm for logging, barn cleaning, bush hogging, tilling, driveway maintenance, mowing and rolling hay etc for about 15 years now for 3K. It came with a front end loader, 5ft bush hog, new grader blade, and a couple other attachments. Top left photo shows it pulling a 7ft haybine mowing hay, next pic is pulling the old square baler I used for years, dont think I have any pics of it running the 5x5 hay roller I use now, but it pulls it fine. next pic is pulling logs out of the woods, the one with me sitting on it was a white oak, about twenty feet long and is now my living room floor. the last pic shows the two 14" bottom plow. If you are going to invest in a tractor... buy a tractor.

Those little lawn mowers are not worth a $500 to me. Get yourself a tractor of at least 30 hp or higher that has a 3 point hitch and a clutch controlled or live pto as they used to be called and you can buy tons of good used equipment and a good quality loader that will actually pick something up without lifting the rear wheels off the ground. Just my advice.
Hope it helps.

Round here you could get a real tractor for $7k, an old but sturdy 150hp probably with a loader, not 4wd but you might get a set of duals. A real tillage tractor you can run a whole farm off of.
Would never pay that much for a little guy, though I do want one for the garden it'd have to be $1500 tops
