So what was it exactly? It looks like a toad to me, peepers are frogs around here. They holler and let you know that spring is just about sprung.
I have several big tubs around the place that I fill with water for my plants. they have a rim, but it seems every day or so I find a frog in one, they have to climb up a slanted outwards plane, overcome a turned down rim, then they are in the water and can't get out. I have a stick that I lean in, next time I look the froggy has gone.
I find toads are great climbers. I once watched one climb up through a narrow crack of the deck. How it got through the crack is a wonder in itself. but how it reached up to it is way beyond me, it is a good 8 inches off the ground.

lol that is too funny. our house happens to be painted "tree frog green". so any given night you can find like 20 of them on our siding.

These little guys love the bugs attracted by light to our patio door.

In the Spring after a rain, the toads are "on the move" and you frequently see them hopping on the road. (Not a good place for them.)

I've been known to stop and grab them and bring them home. I figure they are safer at home in the yard rather than on a road.

Update:

I came into work this morning and found 10 plastic, toy tree frogs on my desk. I still haven't found out which co-worker left them! (not many people knew about the frog to begin with)

Btw... the little fellow who hitched a ride last week was a Spring Peeper frog. This year we have had more than in the past several years. With last year's drought, there were very few. I'm glad to see the population returning to "normal".

I suspect Harry means the Cane Toad, Bufo marinus, which are extremely toxic. They are native to Central and South America, and have been imported to several other countries.

An unsuspecting agriculture mininstry imported them into Australia to combat cane beetles, instead they have devastated the native wildlilfe.

Did you take them to IHOP?

I yelled "DUDE!" (as if he could hear me and understand what I was saying) I told him to hang on (which tree toads are pretty good at) while driving into my parking spot.

The landscapers where I work spray all sorts of nasty chemicals and there really isn't a decent water supply close enough to support a tree toad, so I had to bring him into the office.

He's sitting in a styrofoam cup at my desk with a makeshift lid (with lots of holes, too) and a little water in the bottom of the cup. He'll have to hang out until he can come back home with me after work where he'll be released back into my garden where he belongs.

I sure hope he's learned his lesson and sticks close to home! The city is no good for a Spring Peeper!

On the way to work, my warped mind made a picture of this frog with its tonge frozen to my windshield and it's animated eyes looking in the direction of approaching wipers.

One of my cats hitched a ride to the doctors office 15 miles away one morning. She rode on top of the battery and luckily I heard her meow when I parked. She got to ride back home on my lap, and so far has not tried it again.

I've been known to pull over to get a anole lizard off the hood of the truck. One was in the cab with me the other day, but it can live at work or home, so I didn't try to catch it.

I'm glad I'm not the only person who is reduced to talked to amphibians in surfer-mode. "Dude! Duuuuude! Like.. hang on little froggy dude!"

I have removed many tree frogs from condensation drain on ac units. It was after the damage had been done in most cases. They also love the high voltage contactor on the condenser. BUZZ
