Now, FarmboyBill probably has had a bad experience or two with some moochy neighbors, because not everyone will see you as someone looking to walk off with their stuff.

To have good neighbors, be a good neighbor. Don't gossip. Help someone out on a project before you go a-borrowin'. And when you do need to borrow (we all do, at one time or another), make sure you return whatever you used in better shape than when you first borrowed it. (It goes without saying, but I'm saying it anyway, that you return any borrowed thingamajig as soon as possible.)

Neighboring is an important part of 'steading. Remember to take the time - but not too much time - to visit with folks. It's a very good investment.

..................Make sure your surveyor provides you with a couple of blue line prints of the survey , with ALL distances written thereon ! Secondly , make sure he has marked all corners with a survey pin , and , has driven stakes every hundred feet or so , So , you can layout your new fence line as it should be ! IF , for example , two survey pins are say 800 feet apart and a rise between them you won't beable to see over the hill , so he should have driven wooden stakes on the hill and on each side to facilitate your fence building efforts .
.................From what I've seen of surveyor work , lately , there are a LOT of lazy ones , NOT doing a complete job and charging big bucks ! , fordy

Yes pony I have had a bad experience with one set of neighbors. Now, after filling up my well, there gone. Course, hopfully I hope to be gone soon also.

I have N E V E R borrowed ANYTHING from ANYBODY. Ive had people who had stuff come and use it for me. And that EXTREMLY RARELY. Its not a good thing to do, and so, ive never done it. Guess that's partially why I got more stuff than likely anybody on my road.
