i am aiming to have very little to mow at all....our 'lawn' is small, and it basicly the garden. that's behind the house. in the front, there is a larger 'lawn' area, that's usually fenced for overnight keeping of a horse or two. so that leaves mowing along the edges, to look neat and tidy and keep vermin away. I agree that mowing is a waste.

We actually lose a chicken or three when the pasture near their coop heads to seed. They seem to wander off into the "jungle" and never make it back. I've got to be diligent about keeping it mowed in May/June, or else the CCL gets angry.

Tall grass means more mosquitoes, more tick, higher humidity, lost things in the grass, and less cooling breeze for me.

It has it's place but just not in my yard.
