selling

Well, selling really isn't an issue here. This land has hundreds of acres of beans one year, corn the next, on all 4 sides, with a gravel road dividing it on the east side of the property. The guy who farms all of this would give his arm and 3 legs if he had them to get this place and the only thing stopping him is us. All we have to do is say the word and he would pay whatever we want, come in with a bulldozer, push it all in and start farming it. And when he is done? His son is going to follow in daddy's footsteps. Land in this area has gone for nearly $10,000 an acre at a steady pace, so I'm not concerned about that. Our kids can sell it (I won't be leaving it until they carry me off) and get a few thousand out of it and that won't be a problem at all. I just want a place that doesn't let the rain in or the cold wind or the bugs, mice, and everything else. I might as well be living in a tent, which is why my husband says we are just camping, but we have been just camping now for nearly 8 years. I want a home. I'm probably not going to be around more than maybe 20 years at the most and I really don't give a rip what happens to it after that. I'm not leaving it to anyone and our kids don't want it. If I thought I could get my husband to do it, I'd just move a very nice 5th wheel into the Morton Building and live in that.

I'll do my best to get pictures tomorrow of the inside of the morton building. It is tall enough we could have 2 stories in there, but I don't want it. I can't climb stairs much anymore. Its probably none of it going to happen and I'll be stuck in this "tent" for the rest of my life, but I'd like to find out what "could" happen............ just in case. I like to dream, ya know?

Well I'm with you on not selling .It would be easy to put windows on the out side walls and you could use an open floor plan for easy movement too.

All one needs is a bunch of 2x4's air compressor and a nail gun and go to it . This would put the walls up . I'd put the floor over the house part .Here you can find real ceramic floor tile for 65 cents a square foot if you don't want to stain the concrete .

I hire a helper now and then but one can do most anything they set their mind too. Our girl could do electric hang and finish sheet rock plus many other things .

Hey Jim?

Send your girl up! I could use her! LOL I am having hip and knee issues, partially due to a too large behind for the leg to carry, but mostly due to old age (in my family anyway), and getting near to needing surgery. Seeing the doctor about that soon.

I agree about the windows. No tougher to do windows on this Morton building than on a stick structure. This building sets a bit higher than my house too, and I think will just be a big nicer. Oh well, we'll see what can happen.
Sawmill Jim likes this.
