It is neither rabbit or screen wire. It is a plastic-type that you can get at hardware stores in rolls about 4" wide and pretty long. Use the thick white stuff to paint your roof, lay the mesh (pushing it into the thick white stuff) and let it dry. After all the spots you're concerned about are treated in this fashion and dried, then go over the entire roof with that good white stuff.
