So it's ok to open a 24hr shooting range right next to your home? You have no problems with that?
Which part of not interfering with the next fellers rights is giving you so much trouble understanding?

So, you are ok with that 24hr machine gun range 50' from your home? I'm guessing not.

Suppose a law forbid a range closer than 500' from your home? I could still have my range, and you could still live in your home with less noise...win win on both sides and still free to do a I please with my property...within reason.

Did I misunderstand your original argument? I do that sometimes ... I get confused with what other people have said and then assume a throwaway sentence has a lot more behind it than what you meant.
Since this thread has been abandoned by the original person, I hope I might respond to this fragment now.

How do we know you did the wiring, the well, and the septic properly without anyone inspecting it? And how can they, or you, determine if it is done properly, without a code or list of rules to follow?

I don't understand you line of reasoning. It appears you say you are king of your property, no one else has any right to tell you anything about it.

Now certainly opening uranium enriching plant is an extreme example, but truly, how do we know if you are doing such responsibly without some sort of inspection and list of rules to follow?

So far, you keep saying we just need to trust you.

In all the gmo, Monsanto discussions, that sort of concept does not work... No one just trusts the farmer spraying next to their property, and no one just trusts Monsanto.

And that is good. Farmers have to get licenses in order to spray chemicals, big corporations need to pass many tests and legal inspections. The effectiveness of these codes and inspections are open to question, but they offer some checks and balances on what is going on.....

Likewise, since your poo can leave your property, your well can divert contaminated water down into aquifers many share, your electrical wiring can affect many people who legally come on your property or own it in the future, these things need to be constructed properly.

Somehow, we need to see you are handling them properly, while you may be honest and smart as the day is long, out of 100 people, not half of them can do safe wiring or design a poo system that works, or will make a well that keeps surface and septic water out.... You have seen the questions and opinions on these 3 topics here over the last decade, the poor info handed out is, frankly, frightening......

I understand, much of the regulations since the 1980s is more of a tax plan than a real issues inspection, so I understand a lot of what you are griping about.

On the other hand, why should we just believe you that you are keeping your poo out of the aquifer, keeping your electrical grounding safe? We should just blindly trust you?

How do we know that, without inspecting you at some level?

Your version of 'just trust me' does not work in society. Out of 100 people....

Well, first off ... if my electrical system isn't done right, or my house isn't proper... whose business is it but mine? Nobody else comes in here but me and my family. If it falls down on us all and squashes us dead, why is that anyone's business? I'm not asking anyone to pay me money to rebuild or to even so much as bother to bury me. There's plenty of buzzards around here that'll do the job for free.

Second, how do we know you're not up to some criminality in that house of yours? Mind if we come in and look to make sure?

No? You have the right defined in the Constitution of innocent until proven guilty in a court of law?

Why don't I have that right when it comes to building, electrical, and sewer?
