Driveway gravel question

There are many ways to build a road, depends some on what you are starting with.

In general, build a base of bigger rock, put gravel on top, have it higher than the surroundings, and crown it so water rolls off to the side, not down the road itself.

Sounds like the first fella did fine, and its working, I'm sure there are many other projects that actually need doing, no need to rebuild a road that is working when so much else surely needs attention.

The very first rule of road building is to get the water off the road. Everything else is secondary.

If it ain't broke, don't fix it. What's his problem with a driveway that's working?
