HP, in post #38 you said the cancer causative agent is IN the milk. In post #32 your said "but I now know raw milk causes cancer. Surprised. Well, you just need to pay attention:"

Sorry but those are two DIFFERENT statements.

The statements use different words but they do not contradict each other.

When I wrote Raw Milk Causes Cancer, I included the news report that supported that statement. The news reported raw milk that was able to cause cancer because of a specific fungus that the cows ingested and passed through the milk.

In that case people could ingest this safe looking milk and contract cancer. Probably as rare as French fry cancer.

In the 1950s, most paint had lead in it. Lead was found to be harmful. Now we know that this paint causes brain damage. Likewise, it is true that the causative agent in the paint was lead.

Paint is safe, raw milk is safe, pond water is safe. It is those unseen, perhaps unknown, additives/contaminates like lead, campylobacter or PCPs that are in it that are dangerous.

Healthy looking cows, fed healthy looking feed and kept in a healthy looking environment can produce milk that can sicken you.

Ahem, one of the most dangerous activities out there is "unprotected sex". Iirc, 800 or so STDs are distinct possibilities. Now, there isn't a hue and cry to get and stay in a monogamous relationship. Millions in taxpayers money goes in treatment of std's and the resulting pregnancies.
Now sorry to say that drinking raw milk gets blasted. The op stated a positive experience and it turns into a raw milk debate. I have seen and avoided many of these threads but since I just sat and drank my first glass in many years, of raw milk, from my own cow, I guess I couldn't resist. Now, if I get sick, I will foot the bill but, if I really thought it wasn't safe wouldn't have done it. Better than a beer!
