A regular round body coil won't work either. I ended up going to NAPA and paying over $80.00 each, but they were good quality coil, not the low bid stuff from TSC.

Yes I am very familiar with the front mount distributor on 9n and 2n and early 8n Fords with the square coil, and yes my local TSC has a 6v square coil and a conversion 12v square coil in stock, and yes many of us have replaced the square coil on these tractors with a standard round automotive coil. It is not difficult to do. I imagine that the NAPA coil says made in China on it too..... Accel coils are made in China now...just sayin

A 1030?!!! DROOL!!! I love Cases or that era. I have an 811B Caseomatic gasser. Love that tractor, just can't afford to feed it!
we did pay a little more for the 800, was much better maintained also. only paid a tad more for the 1030, got a heckuva deal. its a monster, I almost need supplemental oxygen to climb up on it.

as long as it has the power and maneuverability to do the job, a tractor is a tractor to me... lots of people have very strong feelings though.

happy spring ! ! !

The Echlin coil said USA on it. These days, who knows. When the owner wants his restored and pretty 9n repaired with the proper parts, that's what you do. He actually LIKES 6 volt systems. Just sayin'....

I don't know why he would complain about the $ 160 price tag for coils then....

This North American Ignition Parts buyer was looking at Chinese manufacturers in 2011 for Echlin IC-670 and ValuBilt (TSC) A569384 Ford 9n ignition coils.

Right my point exactly, because you don't have a use for the n series of tractors you make it sound like you had to spend $ 80 for a coil when in fact many mechanically minded people have round 6v coils around that they could put on to replace the square can for little or nothing. This is unfair to the OP. In reality parts for the n series are plentiful and relatively cheap, they are good solid little 70yr old machines that were built to replace a team of horses and this they did very well. If the OP works them within their limitations he will have a fine little machine that can save a lot of labor... just like they did 70yrs ago.

I didn't make it sound like anything. It's an under powered, over expensive toy tractor for weekend wannabes. Makes a decent raking tractor. But, for the same money you can get a much better rig any day of the week. That's the point. Rabidly defending these tractors is like the rabid defense of the Model T Henry Ford put up. Must run in your blood. Holy crap man, is this a religion for you or something? You go spend $2-4K on a 8n and for sure you'll find a 6 or 800 for the same price or less the next week. That's the point.

BTW- it's not that I have no use for them, I just understand the value of a dollar vs what you can do with what you buy.

I have never spent over $ 1,000 for one..... it's funny that a man that thinks a Case 811 gasser is a great tractor when in reality it is an overweight underpowered frontend heavy pig of cast iron that you can not pour gas to fast enough to keep it running. The OP is talking about $900.00 not 2-4K that you are dreaming about. I guess you should tell the OP to snap it up as he can sell it to someone for a 3k profit according to you... then go an buy one of those pigiron 811 to plow snow out of his driveway. The fact is the tractor is worth $ 900 that he is talking about
