The yard has been full of robins every morning now for about a week. We are starting to hear the tree frogs now..I love it when I start hearing them..

bluebirds as well. Seems they survive by piling into nestboxes in groups

and share the body heat and manage to find enough dried berries for food.

Another sure-sign of spring, is the return of the sandhills.

Thought I heard a couple of them "crunkling"

last evening and then this morning, a pair flew

overhead at 75 feet and going due north.

I waved and I swear, they tipped their

heads in acknowledgment! Welcome back.
I saw about 20 robins last Friday morning on the west side of Ann Arbor, I haven't seen or heard any cranes or robins yet out here in Stockbridge, but some of our bulbs are sprouting.

I always consider spring truly here when the red winged blackbirds return

So far I have crocus blooming and daffodils are up. Don't forget the weeds are already seeding. Working on my dirt.

I think it just goes to show how we are conditioned to believe what we see and here on tv and in books without checking to see if it applies to us. I know I always believed it until I observed for myself that I had them in winter only and my Mother loved to watch them in summer.
I am waiting for those darling little humming birds.

I was actually just contemplating the return of birds today. We saw a bunch of swans out with a flock of Canadian Geese the day before yesterday. I didn't know there were wild swans in Idaho. I'd never seen one outside of a zoo or a park. I also noticed the first two robins sipping out of my horse's water through this morning when I went out to feed.
