I lived in Charleston for about 7 years. Used a lot of dusting powder. I would shower, load up on a good dusting of powder, then stand with my arms out-stretched like a scarecrow so that my nice freshly-pressed dress wouldn't wilt from sweat before my date arrived. Did I mention the humidity? Hang a shirt on a doorknob and go back the next day and mildew and mold will have formed on it.

You can make extra money to supplement your retirement income. Just rope off your back yard, saddle a cockroach and charge the tourists a dollar to ride them! Kids just love it!

I have lived in south Carolina since 1974. We have lived in the country between Columbia and lugoff for many years, our soil is sandy....which I love. It's was easier to dig, fence, whatever. It's easy to amend sandy soil so I like it for gardening. The upstate area is a lot prettier in my opinion, but they have heavy clay soil and rocks plus more snow and cold in the winter. The heat in the summer is bad at times, but you learn to live with it. I usually get my outside chores done early in the morning and get back inside before lunch. Works fine for me. We do get snow once in a while, but since our temperatures rarely ever stay cold for an extended period, it's rare for the snow to actually hang around. A couple of years ago we had a gorgeous 8" of snow overnight. It was so much fun to play in it! But it was all gone within 2 days. We have had snow that was there one day, totally gone the next. So snow really isn't a worry here. And since you are closer to the beach, you won't get as much as we do in the midlands.

Thank you all soooo much! We usually vacation at the house during the summer months so I am no stranger to SC humidity and heat. I have long curly hair and I actually look "wild" when my hair hits the Mason Dixon line

We have sandy soil at the house but my dad always had no trouble growing tons of yummy okra, tomatoes, corn, peanuts etc...

I can not tell you how anxious I am to move. The mountains we live in are pretty but I can't wait to drive an actual straight road for more than 1/4 mile!

It's surprising how people get so bored with what they have to deal with on an "everyday" basis.

When I lived in Charleston, I lived on the beachfront. "WOW!", you say? I got so tired of hearing that relentless noise and seeing that monotonous view out the window.

I agree-I live a few miles from Myrtle Beach and I Rarely see it(only go there for business) and have not been down to the water in Years, with No desire to go.
