Jagger,
Been following your upcoming adventure with interest. I was wondering if you
have all of the basic tools you need to get started. If not I would be happy to
donate some of my spares to the cause. I seem to remember that you are now somewhere in Ohio. If you are anywhere near eastern Ohio and can swing by I
have a spare chainsaw, axes, and other various and sundry tools you are welcome to. Let me know.

Hi jagger! I'm glad that you can persue your dream. I bought 17 acres of land in the country 18yrs ago, but I felt that it was better for my family for me to remain at my job untill I could retire. Since that time, we have enjoyed many weekends & vacations on the property, but since it is 5hrs away from where we live, it has been impossible for us to have a REAL homesteading lifestyle. I have managed to pay off the mortage on our town home, & our country place was paid for with cash & the sale of my Harley & some collectible guns. Since that time, we have been able to make improvements on the cabin & the land, & there have been many enjoyable weekends & vacations for us. We may have not been able to live there full time, but that piece of land has always been our escape valve. In a few more years my wife & I will be able to sell our city place, & move to the country with our finances intact. We've sacrificed to get to where we are now, & we are hoping to be able to reap the benefits!

Any tools you would have to spare would be of great appreciation. They would be well used. I haven't bought many things tool wise yet. I have been looking for a chainsaw but they are just so expensive. If need be I would be willing to even help you do some things in trade for the tools.

My wife and I are so impressed how people on this forum are so nice. We have had several people offer to let us park our camper at their place if needed and people have told us all about the area we are moving to . The last time we went to Missouri we didn't have much . THis time we will be a lot more prepared.

We will keep eveeryone posted after we move. There is a library close at hand. Our adventure will be yours.

Jagger,
I have a very good Husqavarna saw you are welcome to. It is too big for my needs as Most of my cutting is firewood. Also a couple of axes, shovels, maddock, and probably some other essentials yet to be identified. I live just west of Steubenville very near Jefferson Lake State Park. You are very welcome to pick these up now or later.

It is funny, Jagger was worried about feeling like a wuss.... Here I am, choked up and teary eyed from reading the kindness, comaradaree, and love that everyone is sharing with this young family as they start their life's adventures.

Jagger, you are in my family's prayers, and if I was not so far away, I would be there to help you with anything you need. Unfortunately, distance prevents that, but I hope that you know that there is an amazing collection of wisdom, experience, and genuine compassion at your disposal here....

Show Mo. what desire and sweat can do!

Soem people were asking us how far we aref rom MIssouri? Well, we are about 12 hours away. We presently live in Lancaster, Ohio and are moving to MOuntain View, Missouri. Check out www.mapquest.com to see where we will be traveling.

Does anyone know of a web site you can put in your driving route and it would tell you like what campgrounds and rest areas are on the route you are taking. We ar going to take 2-3 days to get ther. We are taking our time.

Jagger is counting downthe days until we depart and I am just getting nervous, but we did it before and we lived in a wigwam last time... It was Hell. I told him if we were going to do it this time then we are going to have a camper and all the tools needed to do it right. Last time we went we didn't even have a chainsaw. He chopped down the trees with an axe all by himself. We drug logs out of the woods with a cheap com-a-long which broke after a few logs. His hands were covered in blisters and blood. I never thought the happiest day in his life would be the day I came home from work with a chainsaw I rented from the local hardware store.

I believe that the HARD times make you closer and he said this time he even has more modivation to get hings done with a baby on the way. He is overjoyed, excited and nervous all at the same time. We are both looking forward to the family time and time outdoors we will have together. Live is so much calmer and quieter with no tv. We listened to a lot of books on tape. (Little House On the prairie) was our favorites.

There is one more thing I would like to find before we move, but we decided it is not going to keep us here and that is a generator, but for 600.00 we can do a lot more than buy a generator. That will buy materials, chickens, rabbits and maybe a piggy or two.

Well, I have gone on long enough. I want to thank everyone for their kind thoughts and inspiration.
