As you realize ownership has costs and you agree those costs have to be paid.
I would with the new 70ac where your moving to ,, grow something/s that are very easy to market. Grow a variety and grow enough to pay the costs of the property. You should be able to have some of the products for you family and may be able to grow more for profit.

That's more or less what we'd planned to do Jim, grow as much of our own food as possible and some for market, supplementing with (hopefully) some craft sales.

We're also tossing around the idea of selling our existing home (we're going to do that as soon as possible regardless), banking the proceeds, keeping the land and building a shop to store our stuff, put in an RV pad so we have a place to park when we come home, and hit the road fulltime again in our RV. We make a ton of money DH takes contracts away from home, as we get per diem which is enough for us to live on, and we can bank his entire salary.

If we do that until he retires (another 10 years), we can choose to build a new home (since we'll have saved the proceeds from the sale of our current home) or replace the RV again and live in it on the land... or on the road, whatever suits our fancy in another 10 years.

Decisions are hard!
