~grinz~ In lukewarm water, by hand, in the sink. Use alkaline soap (Ivory, goat milk soap, Zote) and add about a tablespoon of 3% peroxide to your wash water. Wring our VERY gently and then rinse thoroughly in cold water. You can lay it flat on a non-metal screen to drip dry, or you can tumble dry on air only in a regular dryer.

Not that I have gotten a hand knitted scarf or hat trampled into muddy manure before.

I used the term prepper to describe myself a couple of years ago, but now, I'm not so found of the term. I think that shows like Doomsday Prepper have caused the general public to decide that the term means the same thing as "lunatic".

I tell people that I believe in preparedness...period. I believe in having a well-stocked home to ensure that we never run out of stuff. Our pantry has saved us during a time of partial layoff and is especially helpful when there is a storm in the forecast. I don't really prepare for the big catastrophic stuff, but when you already have a stocked household and the knowledge to provide for yourself, you can withstand just about anything that comes your way.
Batt and countryfied2011 like this.

We live in a topsy turvy world where being prepared for foreseeable problems is considered something to laugh at by so many. I guess there should be no questioning Christ's account in Matthew when he compares the time of the end with the time of Noah. How does a civilization get to the point that any mention of impending problems makes someone an extremist? Have we as a people just had it to good for to long?
