Yep BTDT too - years ago I worked the bar for a greek guy and every so often I'd find a few goat carcasses hanging in the beer cooler.

Since we are on topic of carcases and pelts in a freezer, I will ask couple questions as well.

1.Those who have pelts and things in the freezer, do you have them in separate freezer or in the same as food?
2. What if you tan skins yourself? Do you have to have a paper trail for each and every one? What if it is a gift?
3. What about roadkill? Can it be picked up and skins tanned? We had a gorgeous full grown coyote hit by the car next to neighborhood entrance. I so wanted to pick him up and tan the skin but hubby said absolutely NO, he is not having dead animals in the car. But I always see things on the side of the road from opossums (which I check for babies) foxes and beavers. I want to learn to tan and it would be a good practice. Well, I have salted a mouse skin many years ago for biology club, but that doesn't count.

Oh, he has definitely gotten his share of chicken dinners at my expense, back when Annie was just a puppy and we first moved here. We have reds here too and the occasional silver. I was surprised to be honest, to see a grey, he is the first I have seen myself. The one that used to be the bain of my grandma's existence with her chickens was red.

Beautiful silvering on that fox!

And no, you aren't the only one with critters or hides in your freezer. Don't worry about it.
