I think I can state pretty categorically that you will not find that "down South hospitality", whether in a city or a small town or rural area. It's just not like that up here.

Yes you can add solar, but should research how many sunny days the property gets.

I showed my wife this listing and the hospital. She said that she may consider working in adult care as well if its a smaller city like such. But I agree, Job is #1 for her, but I need a definite answer on what she is willing to do. She did adult care for a few years, but switched to peds and loves it. I do know the facility she was at and the general community/population of that area for adults weren't that great to work with, so it may be better in a smaller town.

It depends on the smaller town...

There again, it depends on the town. There sure are a lot of biased generalizations being posted. You should take time to do some traveling, meet folks in different communities, check out job opportunities for your DW, THEN do serious searching. When I get local Clients, I confirm where they want to live. When that is confirmed, I can devote time in uncovering the best deals for them. This way, you may get excited about a property and find out the reason it is such a good deal is because there is a major issue. I would be wary of any property on the market for more than six months priced to sell.

Here is another big concern. What about internet on these off grid types? We can do solar/wood just fine, but I need internet. How is satellite, it works fine down here but I'm wondering about the "ever so cloudy WA".
No, ask anyone who lives in Eastern WA, how cloudy it is. There, solar is feasible. Not so much here. I can check out more info, but your most important criteria isn't confirmed. Work should be assured, if relying on income, weather is important, and the area may not be of preference to you. I have been all over WA, like it best right here, but that is me.
