I repeat, never ever saw a weed problem in any grain field which we grew other than thistles. Those fields were full of annual weeds when corn was planted in them and required cultivating at least twice to stay ahead of them. Their seeds were still in the soil when planted to grain but could not germinate due to the grain being ahead of them. Any weeds which could be a problem would have to be perennials which come back from the roots, not seeds.
