I mean it is Christmas. Just curious what was on the Homesteaders wish/buy list??

jwal10 12/23/12 07:29 AM

We don't buy much at Christmas time. We don't need things. A few special seasonal foods maybe. Our wish for everyone is a fun and safe season with family and friends. Very low key here. Merry Christmas, Everyone....James

I'd love a 2 bearing 30kw generator from gereratorjoes, and 100 Tilapia, and 100 redclaw crayfish, and a banana tree that makes a great eating banana.

I've bought myself quite a few things for Christmas this year.

There have been some really good sales that I couldn't pass up. I ordered a Galaxy tab, 1/2 case of tattler lids, lots of reloading supplies that were on sale, a few guns, a gravity water filter, and I found one of these on Craigslist that has barely been used https://www.lehmans.com/p-4400-high-...rain-mill.aspx Oh, and I am shopping for a tractor.

Merry Christmas to me!

How Do I 12/23/12 08:07 PM

I want a load of gravel, but I'll probably just get a lump of coal in my stocking. :(

That peace on earth thing sounds pretty cool too. I really hope you get it pattycake. :)

I found out that the DS ordered me 60 pounds of Orange Blossum Honey. Looks like I'll be making a few batches of Mead here soon.

I wouldn't mind a lump of coal--when I get the chance, I do some blacksmithing.

Here, I'll get lots of paper to burn, sounds of laughter, hugs and maybe even a smile from my teen.

CurtisWilliams 12/24/12 02:01 PM

My Christmas present to myself is a new snowblower. Nothing fancy - 22", 6 hp, 2 stage. I hope it was a waste of money. NO SNOW!

Karla has been doing a lot of sewing and a while back, she showed me a sewing mannikin and said shed really like to have one. So shes getting one along with a little jewelry.

Together we bought a new pressure canner and next weekend we're going to buy some fruit and nut trees.

I know she got me some stuff but I honestly dont have a clue what.

The 3 youngest are getting clothes and a couple toys, the grown kids some stuff they asked for.

duckidaho 12/25/12 05:09 AM

rumor is I'm getting a cheese press. Wow! That would be amazing. Blessings

Jpchar 12/25/12 05:25 AM

We received our greatest Christmas gift so far, a healthy first grandchild and the blessings keep coming year-round!

o&itw 12/25/12 10:35 AM

I thought J and I were different than most, but after reading the other replies, maybe not :ashamed:

We sort of know what each other wants and/or needs, and we tend to get it when it is available, or needed, or when we can afford it. That being said, I got my Christmas present back in October, and J got most of hers about a month ago. We still give each other token gifts; I got a cover for the garden tractor, she got some new bath towels. But they are simply some stuff we need and things to wrap. Those "I love you.. hope this present knocks your socks off gifts" tend to come when they can....

MushCreek 12/25/12 12:15 PM

I didn't know what I was getting; at age 59, I still want to be surprised. Since we're on a tight budget, we kept it small, but I got a few favorite things- an induction hot plate, and a Stormy Kromer hat (red plaid, of course!) We have a lot of fun with stocking stuffers, too.

As we get older, we move further from the commercial side of Christmas, and my best memories right now are playing Christmas music in church, but I hope I always have enough 'kid' in me to be excited about Christmas morning and a few presents!

mariabird7 12/25/12 06:03 PM

I got (or will be getting) a chicken house - a bunch of my friends decided to pitch in together instead of each getting me something small!

Wildfire_Jewel 12/25/12 06:40 PM

I was given a Victorio grain mill (deluxe) and just got done making some very fine brown rice flour with it. My dad just gave me a very old red cast iron mill as well that had been used for grinding feed corn for the poultry - I am planning to use it to grind the left over dog kibble that the kennel I work for saves for my poultry - hey free food for my birds - and now I don't have to try and smash it up with a hammer for them!

Alice In TX/MO 12/25/12 08:22 PM

It won't be here till January, but I'm getting a hand made copper pot for making cheese in! I am SO excited!!!!!!:D

jennigrey 12/26/12 01:38 AM

Mom got me a machete because my old one got lost on a wagon trip. My brother got me a clamp for my drill press and a flourescent vest with reflective strips to wear when I'm riding my horse on the road. My sister got me some airtight BPA-free dry food storage canisters. DH got me a bunch of good ex-dairy milk crates. Santa brang me a whole stocking full of goodies, including a Starbucks Doubleshot Espresso in a can, some Mexican candy, some gummy cola candy (my favorite), a new bandana, a bar of bacon-scented soap, a roll of camoflauge duct tape, and a little red and white enamelware cup. Maybe next year I ought to get a BIGGER stocking and see if I get MORE stuff!
