And just a couple hours ago I cut up six pallets for the wood stove.
Then I brought in six wet ones to cut up in a couple days when they are dry. That is all I use to heat my Northern Michigan house.
I have also built sheds and a goat pen from pallets.
All very nice projects I have seen here.

Thanks guys - and I love the pics!
Jason, your book looks interesting, I'll have to check it out. Makes me happy that there are others scrounging and repurposing out there.....I just hate to see useable stuff go to the landfill. And.....I'm also cheap - so it's the perfect hobby for me

All your projects are really nice and I'd love to have that woodshed here. We just cover our wood with tarps. I too must be from "the wrong side of the tracks".

Ignore the skinny goat, I had just bought her. She is nice and fat now and still milking.
I made this milking stand out of cube shaped pallets I got from work.

Looks very sturdy! What are those cross braces you're using? That's something I need on some of my projects.

That is metal banding that came on the pallets. I've since removed the ones on the top on both sides so we can milk from either side.

How are you guys taking your pallets apart? I have had awful luck trying to get the planks off without destroying them.

Cats paw and hammer, usually. I loosen each nail in whatever piece I'm working on and then I start removing them. If i'm in a hurry and small pieces will do then it's the jigsaw or skilsaw

That is the tallest goat milking stand I have seen.
Why so tall?
When I had my goats I built a stand that was about 16 inches off the floor.
Then I just sat on a stool to milk the goats.
I sold that stand but I need to build another one because I am really considering getting a couple milk goats.

I'd love to see more of your set up. Please post pics of your garden area, it looks so interesting.

Usually a pry bar, hammer and muscle (which I am sadly lacking). I do use a hacksaw to cut thru nails sometimes if they're really stubborn, but I like the look of the old nail holes and weathered ends....so I rarely cut the pallets apart (which some prefer to do).
