I use small nightlights that automatically turn on when the room gets dark.

My DH is another one who turns lights on then leaves the room. I'm forever going around behind him flipping switches......

I used to work for a company that did a lot of energy management work for institutions and commercial customers. We installed tons of motion detection sensors. On one job, we were getting hammered by an employee who claimed that the sensors were garbage, and that his room was constantly dark. Since we can set the system up to be sensitive enough to trigger on finger movement, across the room, his claim seemed suspicious. We had a tech. set this complainer's room to maximum sensitivity and maximum time delay, and then test everything. As far as we could determine, unless you were dead, the lights should stay on. The guy continued to complain, until one of the techs did a little surveilance. Turns out the guy would fall asleep at his desk, and then whine that the room was dark. Well, there wasn't much we could do about that.......... If you can't even wiggle a finger every fifteen minutes, you aren't doing your part. OTOH, I have seen plenty of places where sensors were placed in public bathrooms, and the stall doors blocked the beam. Nothing like having to toss your shoe in the air to get the lights to come back on, LOL......

All I do is run around the house shutting off lights, now if I could just get them to shut off the lights we would save big bucks on the electric bill. I think everyone was born in a barn, if i could only get them to close a door and turn off a light.

Night-lights. Just enough light to walk through a room w/o tripping over the dog.

Our house is full of recessed lighting. We use CFL and Led bulbs. We burn light way to much, But I like a lot of light in the house. For example I'm in the living room now. There are 12 recessed lights in this room and 6 recessed and two sconces in the master bed room. The landscape is also lit at night, It comes on at dusk and stays on for 9 hours.

I have sensor lights for the out door porch, so that switch is supposed to stay in the on position. Why is it that this is the ONLY light switch they always turn off........when the light isn't even on???? Go figure, Oh, and no one will close the cupboards or the microwave doors......and this drives me CRAZY!!!
