Farmers grow a lot of corn, soybeans, sugar beets, some winter wheat and cucumbers. There are a couple big pickle factories arond.
At Beaverton, I can buy oak boards for 35 cents a board foot, at an Amish sawmill. They sell cedar posts, 4 inch tops, $3.00. Amish hardware store near Clare.
There is a Livestock Auction in Clare and in St. Louis, MI. The sell hay and straw there, too.

Menglish - thanks for the offer.

Haypoint - I like the close proximity of an Amish community - I'm about 45 minutes away from Amish country here in NEOhio (huge Amish population) and get lumber, chicken feed, and meat from there.
