It too goes too fast for me now. When/if I find my gear puller, Im going to pull the engine pulley and put a bigger one on.
This is a picture of one like mine.

FBB these HAVE to have a gear reduction motor on them or you would have to RUN using it. Mine goes real slow like a slow slow walk or I can give it full throddle and it will speed up to a fast walk but never a run.

FBB if you put a bigger pulley on the motor it is going to get faster than it is.

LOL, you got that right. The weeds that the cultivators/mule plow missed--I had to hoe several mornings per week so I could get over it in one week to start back over the next week. I got as much as 27 5 gal buckets of cucumbers in one morning picking. We had 1 1/2 acre this year, but my wife and her mother do all the bean picking and my wife does most all the shelling, blanching and bagging. That is a BLESSING having a great garden helper like that. I do all the prepping, planting, hoeing etc.

Glad u said that. Its around a 5in pulley so I can come down somewhat smaller.

I see similarities in yours and mine. My tail wheels in the back, not the front, Mines steel. I have the guard on the side. Mines red also. Id bet someone bought the Co and remanufactured it.

Ive plowed corn when it was 3 feet tall. It would slap back over the cultivator. Early in the day when it was cool and the stalks stiff, had to slow down a bit, but as the day heated up and the stalks got limber, I could speed up.

My answer to the OP would be it all depends on how hard you want to work and how many hours a day you want to invest. And what crops you planted.

I think it depends on the person. I could do 2 acres if I had a tiller. Just 2-3 hours a day would keep it mainatained...planting time might take longer per day than that. DH could do 100 sq ft. Some people just work faster and aren't as picky. Dh would stop and invent 3 new tools to make the job easier before he got anything planted and by then it would be too late to plant.

Soil would make a difference too. Some gardens are just more work.
