Good news.

I found someone who just build a nice little log cabin (one room). I took a tour today. He bought the materials from the Amish, so had shipping but he estimated materials at 4500. His kids & him did the labor. I checked out his set-up, the windows, gutters, etc. Plus called my friend that built his own house.

Also contacted a super cool little farm about volunteering. Actually, volunteering could satisfy me for quite awhile I think. I have so much to learn and this would such a cool way to learn. They have everything I am interested in.

Good winter reading season ahead also.

Here's a thread with some pics of what we were doing on our 1/2 acre lot. It kept me busy for around 5 years before I felt like I had maxed out, but looking back on it now, I can see things that I certainly could have improved and expanded upon.

Anybody else feel like they have maxed out their small acreage?

This is great. I appreciate the photos!

Funny story: I contacted a realtor about two areas of land. It turns out, they both have size regulations. When I told him I was not interested in that type of land, he said, "I cannot believe you wouldn't want regulations. That protects you from people that want to move in next door and build a shack." I wanted to say, "I am that person next door that wants to build a shack.". ha

Anyway, he said he is going to keep an eye for what I am looking for.

In the meantime...I am going to focus on right here, right now. I am excited about working with the organic farm and changing the layout of my yard. I cannot have animals, but other than that, I can do alot (thanks to all of you & your inspiration!)

I told my daughter (trying to use kid language):"I might get to babysit goats!". She gave me a look, and said, "Mom, they are not going to let you bring goats to the backyard". SHe thought we were going to go get all the goats and bring them to our house. Ha
