Ah, the joys of neighbors.

Driveways generally have setbacks (or minimum widths) from the property line, you can get the whole driveway project squashed in many locations if it needs to run that close.

Shared ownership of a tree generally means you both gain or lose from it - if you want to keep it, generally you get some say in this, and at least get compensated for it. If she kills her 1/2 she is also killing your half, so you have some say in this, should either be able to keep the tree or get compensated for losing it.

People like this are what give people moving out to the country a bad name - city slickers, yuppies, whatever. They come out, and imeadiatly want to change everything to be just like the city they left..... Duh.

State laws should regulate trees on property lines. It is not a new issue. Large trees are valuable and are often allowed to grow on property lines...which causes these issues to come up when someone wants to cut one for timber or other reasons. You may have the right to cut every other tree along a property line. Both parties will have some rights but it varies a lot by state.

Also there may be setback issues for what the neighbor can do as far as construction. A good land lawyer can tell you what your rights are so you can decide what to do.
