If you quilt or sew you can use them to sort the colors. line bucket with a plastic bag and then just put your fabric in. put a sticker or write the color on the outside of the bucket

Lay them on their side and ley your chikens lay in them. They stack well on their sides and my chickens love their own space for safety and egglaying.

They make good trickle waterers for young trees and shrubs. As well as about 99 other uses. I wish you were my neighbor. I can't turn away a five gallon bucket.

I've tasted some city water I simply could not drink due to noticeable chorine taste and odor. Funny in town I can drink water at one pizza place, but not another. Perhaps serviced by different water treatment facilities.

Had a friend in CO who used them to make blocks of ice for a small personal icehouse. Froze, brought in warmth long enough for the block to slip out, then put in icehouse.

Our water here in the Mesa is horrible too. When we use our misters for the cats porch, within a few weeks, the screen is just white with what I am assuming is calcium deposits. It is disturbing. We use 5 gallon water jugs with a water cooler. a bit of an extravagance, but I feel better about the jug water than the tap.

If you use the buckets for spot irrigation be sure to somehow mark them. Otherwise you may have a mess if used for liquids. Been there, done that.

My Tonopah water is fabulous! A nuclear power plant in the valley is a small price to pay for cheap fertile land, local hay, peace, quiet and great water!
