I dealt with clearly a international scam this year. It did not come from my eBay sales, but from my own website. Paypal said our buyer was not authorized to pay with this credit card. He ordered a more expensive item on my site and chose fast shipping which is more. And the red flag to me was that it was going to Malaysia. My husband took the sale anyway.

This is the post I wrote about it on my blog Chargeback Fraud. I found a lot more out about this type of scam all over the internet. Paypal says it is in our terms of service that you accept this. So I am working on trying to unload all my inventory on my websites and stop selling products online. Paypal knew I was very angry at them as I sent them quite a few emails. As I said, it has made me step back from selling online. I make more money selling my own products electronically anyway. No paypal!

Your problem is with your husband, not PayPal.

I got an email this morning from my credit card company saying that last night at 11:45 there was a charge to my card at a Rite-Aid pharmacy in Southern California for $216.50 and they wanted me to verify the charge. Of course that wasn't me, I was in bed at that time. They put a block on my card and they are going to issue me a new card. The funny thing is the only time I used this card in the last 45 days is a purchase on ebay using PayPal.

They could have obtained your credit card number in a multiple of ways. Trick: Memorize your PIN (last three digits of number on back) and then scrap it off. That way, if card is lost, they do not also have the pin/security code also.
