Those snow photos look SO inviting right now! I'm tired of triple digit temps.

Hay was really bad this year due to the dry and heat. I think it is going to be a tough winter for livestock because it is hard to find good hay all over right now.

Between record heat and rain, I've been struggling with building our house this summer. I can confidently predict that as soon as the outside of the house is done, we'll have the nicest weather in SC that anyone can remember!

My prediction is for average cold.. But snowy winter. For the central Appalachians from West Virginia to Down east Maine. Basically the storms will move a bit west of the benchmark (100 miles). This will mean the northeast megalopolis will be rainy with a snowy interior.

I predict snow.
We always have gotten snow.
Sometimes we've gotten snow in July.
Seems like a safe prediction.
I'll stick with it.
Late please.

I hope so, I really do. I promise not to complain when I am shoveling a pathway to my car every morning. I can't promise to not complain loudly about heating fuel. The bitter with the sweet, my grandmother would say.

the weather channel for our area predicted that we would have normal to low rainfall/snowfall and a warm August, cold September and a warm October..it is also an El Nino ..so probably a repeat of last winter with mild temps in Michigan and the snow will come but will melt almost as fast as it arrives..last year it didn't get cold here until Feb or March and then was a cold spring...which froze all of our fruit tree buds..probably a repeat but I hope not, we only got 2 pears, hazelnuts, a medlar and a few berries.

We've been very fortunate with our supplier for hay & will be able to keep me in supply for a very long time. They have an excess due to selling off their beef cattle this past December...he was very ill & the wife couldn't keep up...they're both in their late 70's.

I WANT another winter like last...I only had to drive in a blizzard to the city to get to work once. And there was no ice.

I only predict that Winter, as we each know it, will follow Fall and another year shall follow ... otherwise the drought won't really matter after all.

I can hope/wish/desire but ... I'm done guessing and just passing thru.

Usually come out around Oct.1.

winter predictors have said the wider the lighter strip the milder the winter.

I just thought I'd add on to my previous reply. We took a short trip today and I noticed there are yellowing, falling leaves on many trees, even those by ponds, creeks, lakes so I wouldn't think it would totally be lack of water. Also, though I don't know if it matters or not the apples in our orchard are all ripe and ready to pick. Which usually doesn't happen for us until mid to late September. I have also noticed an increase in the "fall" spiders coming out and spinning their webs. By the way, does anyone know why spiders do that? It seems by fall there is a huge increase in webs in/around trees.

I don't know what kind of spiders, but we have them all over the place right now, just covering the bushes, between trees, etc. I hate spiders, so really have to work up some courage to get out on the riding lawn mower!

I've learned through experience never to try to out guess mother nature.

But. I noticed this week that there was a sudden disappearance of Jenny Wrens, Red Winged Blackbirds and Robins. They have apparently headed south. Also the Stellar Jays are starting their fall ruckus, and the hummingbirds are guzzling nectar as fast as I can fill their feeders. There are also fine cob webs in the air so I am suspecting at least an early fall. Goodness knows the heat had to burn itself out sooner or later.

I just wished it had chosen to do so when we were stretching electrical wire in 106 degree heat.

Haven't seen any Wooly Bears as of yet
