Actually, for a project this year, I would like to build a solar dehydrator like the ones Paul Wheaton just posted videos of. I'll be using the electric one much less when I have one that works with the power of the sun!

The great thing about putting up these videos is the huge amount of feedback I get. I can tell you that the downdraft style is the big winner.

Oh Wow!! This looks fantastic!! No plastic!! Woot!

I don't own an Excaliber, but the feature I like the best is that the heat & fan are on the back of the dehydrator, dispersing the warm air more evenly.

I use my cheapo dehydrators a lot throughout the year. Rival & Nesco. They've held up for many many many years.

(but I don't like the plastic!)
