Oops. Guess the system glitched on me. Glad it's working now.

Hey I annoyed Chuck when I first got here - now I just annoy other people.
But now 4+ years later I have 6358 posts in and at least 2 or 3 of them were worth reading.

When you post on general chat you are no longer protected from yourself.

When I review my history I rate my posts:

What were you thinking?
That makes no sense.
Fifty thousand comedians out of work and you're trying to be funny.
You should have spell checked.
This has no real value.
You think you're so funny.
How do I remove any evidence of this?

Welcome

I might have you beat in the number of posts. Not so sure about having anymore worth reading though.

For new people, I didn't post hardly anything in this forum. However, I did post/respond alot in the livestock areas. Tell people how you are raising pigs/sheep etc. Ask how to raise pigs/sheep etc. There many ways to raise livestock, so no two people have to agree on what is posted.

Few people there are going to tell you that you are crazy for feeding the animals two or three times a day. Or my favorite crazy thing, dumping the water tank every morning and refilling it with "fresh" water. On the other hand if you post things like those two on the Chat forum (this week on the S&EP forum) stating you can't leave the farm to visit distance family, well some of us might have a hard time NOT saying you are crazy or have lost your priorities.

Then Chuck knows you really are a homesteader living the life and adding value to the site, and not just another person with an opinion needing a place to vent.

Actually the advice given here about not having facts, it's only a chat/bbs site, etc and it's all good fun actually irritate the heck out of people trying to communicate with each other. In some cases it's considered trolling and has had requests to block people from certain forums that they flit around in. This does include places like General Chat and does include S&EP.
So it does not do well to flit around and just post to stir things up - eventually it may come back to bite you. Some are actually trying to communicate, and do not consider this the entertainment factor others have indicated here.

Angie, your point is for me... so why don't you explain to us how you (and BF plus many others) determine what is FACT and what is just an opinion?

From Wiki:
*Fact is sometimes used synonymously with truth, as distinct from opinions, falsehoods, or matters of taste.
*Fact also indicates a matter under discussion deemed to be true or correct, such as to emphasize a point or prove a disputed issue;
*Fact may also indicate findings derived through a process of evaluation, including review of testimony, direct observation, or otherwise; as distinguishable from matters of inference or speculation.
*Facts may be checked by reason, experiment, personal experience, or may be argued from authority.

and this
*Misunderstanding of the difference between fact and theory sometimes leads to fallacy in rhetoric, in which one person will say his or her claim is factual whereas the opponent's claim is just theory. Such statements indicate confusion as to the meanings of both words, suggesting the speaker believes that fact means "truth," and theory means "speculation."

Hence, George Zimmerman telling his story is NOT a fact. There is no way to tell if it is indeed true. Also evidence submitted by the DA or the defense is not fact by default. At trial, much evidence can be thrown out or proven to be just a theory.

But go ahead and justify your censorship, of the Chat Forum. You’ve got the power! Shut me out.... Anyone who thinks Chat Forums are more than entertainment but instead a source of facts is …………. You fill in the blank.

I don't know if there is very many things left that is a fact.
Just about everything is an opinion.

What rules govern the board?
Homesteading Today asks that all participants do their best to follow one simple rule: Be nice. Being nice means being civil, polite, disagreeing in a civil manner, not calling names, and using tact when stating your opinion. The moderators of this site do their best to enforce this rule in a fair and impartial way, but cannot read every post. If you see a post which you feel does not adhere to the Rule, please click the link at the bottom left of that post marked "report post." The moderators will then have a look at it and determine if action needs to be taken. It is the policy of the mods on this forum to approach rule violators privately, and we would recommend that you all do the same if you are having a problem with someone. The public forum is no place for personal attacks. That said, please concentrate first on adhering to these guidelines yourself, and aside from alerting the mods to unsavory activity, do not attempt to "enforce" the rules here. We'll take care of it. Some may call this censorship. We do not. We call it civility. Any questions, feel free to contact the mods at any time.

From the agreement all members agreed to to become members.
And I was just warning others that taking certain advice may not be wise.

I'm sure you already know the difference.
Facts can be verified with just a LITTLE effort.

Opinions are fine as long as they are BASED on the FACTS and not some fictional idea

Evidence is not "theory".

What it PROVES can be a theory, but most evidence only has a limited amount of LOGICAL conclusions

ALL the evidence in the Zimmerman case suggests he's telling the truth, no matter how you spin it
