I thought NC shelters can't release dog unaltered. Did they give you a voucher?

This shelter gives Rabies only and you have to submit proof within 30 days that they have been neutered

Oh, what a sweet face! Looks like you've got yourself a Pitapeake Hound or something. *lol* He has the kindest eyes, I just love his expression!

It doesn't count as an impulse if you've been thinking about it for a year and just waiting for the perfect dog to come along!

Beautiful boy with soulful eyes.

I'll second that, especially if he has herding behavior. The brindle is almost certainly Pit given his face shape and his feet do not look nearly big enough for a St Bernard...

Like all dogs, make sure to expose him to plenty of strangers, and keep an eye on him when you do it, especially since he might be part Pit...

I'm going to disagree with Border x Pit. Neither a Border nor a Pit would give him those long, floppy ears. Pits don't carry it in their genes, and even Borders with floppy ears have shorter ears than that, so where would the ears come from? Both Border Collies and Pits come in brindle, but... neither one comes in crinkly coat. That coat looks REALLY Chesapeake to me (my mother raises Chessies), but you'd also have to account for the longer ears and bulkier head (longer and bulkier than even a Chessie alone could donate to the gene pool). Which is why I guessed Pit/Chessie/Hound. You've probably got yourself a full-blood mutt there, meaning either one or both parents are also crossbreeds themselves. Either way, he's very cute, and I hope he works out for you.

He is gorgeous and reminds me so much of my dog. Same face and eyes. We rescued him last fall and he only weighed 75 lbs when he should be 125. Best dog we ever had and all of our dogs have been great. He is so kind and gentle and obedient and loving. But big. I am so glad you rescued your boy!

I thought he was kinda small for a St. Bernard. He could be a lot of breeds. Temperament and energy level will give you a better idea.

He is going to be a great dog..He has manners to learn , but is sweet and smart..
We went to check on some property in Va today and he stayed right with me
on the land and jumped in the pond right away. He has already started to change his "bolt out any door" habit because I have been teaching him to wait until given permission.
Went to the vet today and he is heartworm & intestinal worm free..on antibiotics for his kennel cough.

Traveling was a debacle with him not knowing better than to climb between & over seats into all our drinks LOL..Like I said we have manners to learn..
