This is not about chores, or learning the farming way of life from your parent/uncle/granfather, that is unaffected.
No, it wouldn't affect the child that works for their parents on their own place. But yet, it WOULD affect uncles, grandfathers, etc.

More importantly, it would affect MY kids. My kids do indeed do chores here on our own place, but most of the actual ranch work they've learned over the years (and hopefully will continue to learn) are at their dad and I's elbows as we work our jobs.

On someone else's ranch.

I had a friend go to a Small Biz Administration (SBA) meeting on how to small businesses could get subcontracts from the large prime contractors. the session was taught by a bureaucrat who admitted to no business experience. This friend ran one of the most successful companies ($100M in annual revenues) in the history SBA 8(a) program, a program to assist minority small businesses get a jump start.

After about an hour, she got up, stopped the speaker, and said, "Excuse me, but everything you've said so far is wrong." And my friend was spot on. The SBA is a joke when it comes to helping small businesses. But of course, what gov't agency does a good job in meeting it's mission?
