I don't take it, but it sure works like a champ against barn fly larvae and garden pests.

If anyone needs physical proof of its effect on garden pests, PM me your mailing address and I'll send you the carcasses of the grasshoppers who die/dehydrate still grasping onto the tomato leaves! (Being silly only about the mailing part... but would follow through for a certain one or two who claim that it's worthless.)

to use for say, chickens, just sprinkle in the coop? on the barn floor for the goats?

Yes, and you can dust the animals with it also.

It's other PROVEN use is to absorb moisture, so it helps keep things dry inside, and thus keeps odors down
It does NOT work when it's wet

Try not to breath the dust though.
It can cause Silicosis

Much of it comes from Universities and Veterinarians, as well as REAL people who have tried it and had no beneficial results.

Even a lot of the "studies" that promote it qualify their findings.

It still comes back to the FACT that it's nothing more than powdered ROCK, chemically identical to sand


So, a colon cleanse is useless in people and animals?

Because this is what DE does for me, without it, I may go once every 2 days before I go #2.

With DE as a regular supplement in my coffee (1 huge heaping teaspoon in each 16oz coffee 3x/day) I pass my biosolids 2-3 times a day. I do not have the time at this moment to post some information on colon cleanse but I am sure you are intelligent enough to do some research for yourself BFF.

As far as people go YES it is one of the MOST Useless things a person can do.
And research and those that have a colonoscopy can tell you that.
Doctors hardly EVER, EVER, see any of what those are telling on TV tell you that is going on.
SO many times it is just nice and pink with NOTHING and I mean NOTHING is clinging to the sides of the colon as the Ads ON TV tell ya.
I even asked my doctor at the time I had the procedure done, and that is what he told me.
Those ads are JUST TO SELL some product that does NO GOOD , other then making THAT Company money, because there is NOTHING there in the first place for it to take out of the colon system or track.
PROVE on this is that it has been SEEN by the many CAMERAS that have put put in the Colon during the time of the colonoscopy. And this has been done none for many years and have many documented FACTS that the colons are CLEAR and CLEAR, and they do LOOK good because they ARE LOOKING for polyps.
And if some are getting any effect then some more Roughage would do the trick. THAT is why there is so much being pushed now for FIBER in ones diet.

Usually they give the patient a pretty powerful laxative the day before a colonoscopy. That IS a colon cleanse.

Try it yourself? It works for me. It may not work for you, our diets are different. What I lack in fiber I make up in DE I guess. Nothing is ever 100% provable (is that even a word) Since you are so fixated on hard science, why not coordinate with a local university and have a double blind study done.

Oh my gosh, why all the hate? If you don't want to use it don't and stop fighting about it. Why would anyone have such a personal investment in what others think about DE?

I've never even used it, was just reading the thread out of curiosity so don't have an opinion just had to comment on the rancor.

This is something we always have when anyone mentions DE.
Usually starts when a person comes on and posts how DE will cure aids and broken legs overnight.

I just see some presenting factual information, and some repeating sales hype and anecdotes.

The OP asked for information about DE, and that is what's being posted.

Anyone who wants to LEARN about it needs to hear both the fact and the fiction before logically deciding if it can do what some claim it will do
